Charles E. Smith Life Communities (CESLC) announced that Hebrew Home of Greater Washington is among only 4% of nursing homes nationwide to earn distinctions for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care, as well as being among 21% of U.S. skilled nursing facilities that have been recognized as a Best Nursing Home for 2020-21 by U.S. News & World Report.
Hebrew Home of Greater Washington earned Best Nursing Homes status by achieving a rating of “High Performing,” the highest possible rating, for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care. It was one of only 708 nursing homes nationwide that received both distinctions. U.S. News gives the designation of Best Nursing Home only to those homes that satisfy U.S. News’ assessment of the appropriate use of key services and consistent performance in quality measures, including COVID-19 data and other measurements of safety during the pandemic.
“On behalf of our team members at Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, we are thrilled to be recognized with this top honor from U.S. News & World Report,” said CESLC’s VP of Operations Brenda L. Rice. “During this difficult year as we have all battled the challenges presented by COVID-19, our short-term rehabilitation and long-term care teams are honored to be recognized for their tireless dedication and hard work on behalf of the older adults we serve.”
The U.S. News & World Report metrics measured short-term rehabilitation results including outstanding outcomes inpatient to staff ratios, quality clinical patient outcomes, customer satisfaction scores, and rehabilitation therapy success. The long-term care metrics included nursing staffing, adherence to best practices in preventive care, and resident safety. CESLC is one of the few nursing homes that employs its own physicians on staff, including the medical team serving in short-term rehabilitation and long-term care.
“We take great pride in this national recognition as we all continue to work as a focused team in achieving the highest possible standards for those placed in our care,” said Dr. Anthony J. Pellicane, Warren R. Slavin Post-Acute Care Center rehabilitation director. “We look forward to continuing to uphold these highest industry standards as we strive for excellence in care.”
Now in its 11th year, the U.S. News Best Nursing Homes ratings and profiles offer comprehensive information about care, safety, health inspections, staffing, and more for nearly all of the nation’s 15,000-plus nursing homes.
