Rockville, Md. – July 10, 2024 – Charles E. Smith Life Communities (CESLC) is proud to announce the appointment of Angela Willingham as vice president of resource development. Willingham brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in nonprofit development and leadership.
Willingham is known for her ability to develop, motivate and mentor exceptional development teams, consistently surpassing revenue goals. Her expertise spans annual and major giving, capital campaigns, planned giving, board development, strategic planning, special events, volunteer engagement and corporate communications.
Most recently, Willingham served as vice president of development at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., where she led a successful development and alumni relations team, achieving the largest fundraising year in the seminary’s history in 2023. Prior to that, she was associate vice president of development at the Greater Washington Community Foundation, where they raised a remarkable $110 million in just 18 months for COVID-19 relief efforts.
Willingham’s career also includes significant roles at Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, Md.; Parish Episcopal School and Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas; and The Meadows School in Las Vegas, Nev. She is a certified fundraising executive and holds a master’s degree in strategic communication and leadership from Seton Hall University and a bachelor’s degree in communications/public relations from the University of Central Oklahoma.
