NORTH BETHESDA, Md. November 25, 2024 — Newsweek magazine has ranked Hebrew Home of Greater Washington (HHGW) as the top nursing home in the state of Maryland and included the non-profit community on its list of “America’s Best Nursing Homes” for 2025, a distinction shared by less than 15% of the nation’s nursing homes.

In addition, HHGW earned the “high performing” rating for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care for nursing homes from U.S. News & World Report. Of approximately 15,000 nursing homes surveyed, only 5% (644) earned this “high performing” rating in both categories of care.

HHGW offers short-term rehabilitation, as well as skilled and long-term care on the campus of Charles E. Smith Life Communities (CESLC). For the 11th straight quarter, HHGW earned a five-star overall quality rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Said CESLC President and CEO Bruce J. Lederman, “When a new associate begins their career with us, they quickly learn that dedication to empowering older adults, and the ability to make that happen, are foundational to our work. Our commitment to service excellence extends back more than a century, and while we maintain high standards regardless of appraisals by others, it’s always rewarding to receive such recognition.”
