NORTH BETHESDA, Md. — January 7, 2025 — Residents at Ring House, one of the independent living residences at Charles E. Smith Life Communities, are putting their talents on display with a unique three-day arts festival focusing on music, writing and visual arts.
To be held Sunday, Jan. 12 through Tuesday, January 14, the Voices of Ring House festival will feature displays of original artwork and photography, skits, live musical performances, and the premiere of a special composition inspired by and featuring interviews with Ring House residents.
The festival was conceived entirely by the older adults at Ring House, who worked with Lauren Latessa of Iris Music Project to plan the event. Accomplished University of Baltimore Associate Professor Ian Power created the original composition.
“This festival has gifted us the opportunity to learn more about one another and express our creativity in more ways than we could have imagined,” said Ring House resident Gail Rottweiler, one of the originators of this year’s festival. “I am so proud of the finished product and thrilled to share with my peers that our stories matter and people are open to hearing them.”
