At Hebrew Home of Greater Washington (HHGW), residents are screened daily for COVID-19 signs and symptoms. Policies and procedures are in place to test residents and associates who surpass set thresholds or show specific symptoms. We are following Maryland Department of Health and the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for testing. All testing is reviewed with the Maryland Department of Health.
Yes. HHGW has a dedicated recovery unit in both the Wasserman and Smith-Kogod residences. The units have their own dedicated nursing, housekeeping and medical team.
If a HHGW resident tests positive, the medical and nursing team will develop a plan of care. All residents in that patient’s home unit will remain under quarantine and observation and may also be tested depending on the specific situation.
Yes. Upon review of our infection plan, policies and procedures, the Maryland Department of Health opened our residences to new admissions on April 21, 2020 providing that the new resident tests negative for COVID-19.
Only essential personnel continue to work on-site. Some associates work remotely. Other services, such as salon services, are temporarily closed. Associates are encouraged to stay home if they are experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms and are screened before their shift to be able to start their workday.
Employees are asked to disclose if they are working in another nursing home and to choose which they are going to work in for the duration of this pandemic.
Virtual town hall meetings for family members are held by administrators in each residence. Information on COVID-19 cases is displayed on the COVID-19 Updates page of our website. Email updates are sent to families from respective residence’s administrators. For those family members who would like to be in touch with their loved ones, we offer virtual visits via Skype or FaceTime. No. All HHGW residents’ laundry is done in house.
Small packages can be delivered to residents by doing the following: label the package with resident’s name and room number; drop off packages for residents with even room numbers during even dates. Food can be delivered to the front entrance of the residence; please label food deliveries with resident’s name and room number. Residents are still receiving US mail and small care packages through the mail. We will keep you updated if this changes. Please do not deliver big items.
During this time, all meals are delivered to residents’ rooms and apartments, and disposable tableware is provided with each meal.
It is highly discouraged, but you may take your family member out. They will be discharged and will not be allowed back until the cessation of the pandemic.

Cohen-Rosen House, Landow House, Revitz House and Ring House
At Cohen-Rosen House and Landow House, residents are screened daily for COVID-19 symptoms. Policies and procedures are in place to test residents and associates who surpass set thresholds or show specific symptoms. We are following Maryland Department of Health and the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for testing. All testing is reviewed with the Maryland Department of Health.
At Revitz House and Ring House, the testing is determined by a resident’s healthcare practitioner. Therefore, we are only aware of the test results of residents who have been tested.
Yes. Universal masking protocol is followed by all associates and residents. Residents wear masks when outside of their apartments. We are providing masks for the residents who need or request them.
During this time, all meals are delivered to residents’ apartments, and disposable tableware is provided with each meal. Independent living residents select their meal prior to or at the time of delivery.
Family members dropping off supplies may leave them in the vestibule with a team member. Please try to make deliveries prior to 5 p.m., and label the packages with the resident’s name and apartment number. Please wear a mask and keep a six-foot distance when making deliveries.

No, only patients registered with the Hirsh Health Center will be seen there.
If a resident is a patient of the Hirsh Health Center, they can schedule a telehealth visit by calling Hirsh Health Center at 301-816-5004.
Residents receive daily news and updates on the internal channels through Touchtown, our closed-circuit TV system for entertainment, announcements, daily menus, movies and live events. Residents can tune in on the internal channel 8 and Comcast channel 975.
The fitness center at Ring House is open Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fitness center at Revitz House is open Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Townhall zoom meetings keep residents and families updated with latest information. Assisted living and independent living residents also receive updates and news via Touchtown, our in-house closed circuit TV community engagement platform.
